Richard Henker , PhD, MSN, CRNA, FAAN is a Professor of Nursing and the Interim Chair of the Acute and Tertiary Care Department of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and International Education Coordinator.
Dr. Henker is well known for his efforts to educate nurse anesthetists internationally, serving on the Steering Committee of the Nurse Anesthesia Division of Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) and on the Panel of Experts of the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists.
He frequently travels to Cambodia to assist in the training of Cambodian nurse anesthetists at Angkor Hospital for Children and also to Bhutan where he is currently responsible for the development of a Nurse Anesthesia Program at the National Referral Hospital. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) Golden Apple Award for his extraordinary educational contributions to the international program sites of the HVO. Dr. Henker has been appointed a Visiting Professor at Harbin Medical University
Dr. Henker has published extensively on the topic of thermoregulation and is a reviewer for Critical Care Nurse, Heart & Lung, and the American Journal of Critical Care.
